When I received the invitation to paint at Hana and Tommy’s destination wedding in Mexico, I knew this would be a unique opportunity to capture tropical romance. Even an unexpected venue change due to weather couldn’t dampen the magic of this celebration at the Grand Palladium Riviera Maya Resort & Spa.

Working with the vibrant colors of a Mexican sunset created the perfect backdrop – deep purples melting into blues across the sky, while towering palm trees framed the ceremony space. The lighting was a painter’s dream, casting a magical glow across the reception as string lights twinkled overhead.

What made this piece special was incorporating the resort’s natural elements – the lush tropical foliage, and even a hidden iguana as a playful nod to the local wildlife that called the venue home. The bride’s vision aligned perfectly with my style, allowing me to create something whimsical yet true to the setting’s natural beauty.

Despite the last-minute location change, the new space provided an intimate atmosphere that worked beautifully on canvas. Watching the bride & groom, and their guests’, reactions throughout the evening as the painting came to life added another layer of joy to the celebration.
